How Often Should You Have a Cleaner? Weekly, Every Two Weeks or Monthly
One of the first questions we get on a home visit is: “How often should you come?” The honest answer is that it depends on your home and on how much you want to do yourself between visits.
Among our regular customers, every two weeks is the most popular interval. But it isn’t right for everyone, and choosing wrong costs you either way: too rarely, and you end up doing most of it yourself anyway. Too often, and you’re paying to clean a home that’s already clean.
What decides the interval
Four things matter most:
- How many of you there are. A home with four people gets dirty faster than a home with one.
- Children and pets. Crumbs, mud from shoes and hair on floors and furniture come back quickly.
- How much you cook. A kitchen used every day collects grease and marks on the hob, countertop and cupboard fronts.
- What you do in between. If you do the dishes and wipe the tables daily, the cleaning lasts longer.
The size of the home mainly affects how long each visit takes. An 80 m² apartment typically takes 2 to 3 hours on a regular plan.
Weekly: when the home gets a lot of use
Weekly cleaning suits busy homes where a lot happens: families with small children, homes with a dog or cat, and households where everyone works full time and has no energy left for cleaning during the week.
The advantage is that the home never gets really dirty. You come home to a clean home every week, and you only have to keep things tidy, not clean.
Every two weeks: the most popular
Every two weeks is the middle ground, and it’s the interval most of our regular customers choose. It keeps the home tidy without feeling excessive.
It works best if you handle the small things in the week in between: the dishes, a quick wipe of the kitchen counter, and perhaps a quick vacuum of the hallway if it’s been raining.

Once a month: for smaller households
Monthly cleaning suits singles and couples who keep things tidy day to day and mainly want help with the heavy parts: the bathroom, the floors and the dust in places you don’t get to yourself.
If you go monthly, we recommend adding a deep clean a couple of times a year. It covers what regular cleaning doesn’t reach, like the inside of the oven and fridge.
What happens at every visit
Whatever the interval, your cleaner does the same at every visit: dusting all reachable surfaces, vacuuming and washing floors, cleaning and descaling the kitchen and bathroom. Once a month, baseboards and radiators are included too. The full list is on the home cleaning page.
You get the same cleaner every time, on the same day and at the same time. That matters for the interval too: someone who knows your home works faster and knows where extra attention is needed.
Our advice: start with your best guess, then adjust
Most people find their interval within the first couple of months. If you’re unsure, start with every two weeks. If it feels like too little, switch to weekly. If it feels like too much, go down to once a month.
You can do that at any time, because there’s no lock-in. Read more about how our flexible plans work.
Remember the Danish service deduction too: all regular home cleaning counts, up to DKK 18,300 per person in 2026. See how in our servicefradrag 2026 guide.
